Hi everyone!
How are you all?! I was trying to avoid the start of this blog being the same as every other I’ve done recently, but it seems that once again, I need to start with by apologising for neglecting the great written word, and of course my lovely readers. I can’t believe how quickly Christmas came and went, and I was only too pleased to reflect in a similar way on January disappearing too (except for the last part, when payday finally came around!). 2023 is coming at us hard and fast – but with so much to look forward to, I say bring it on!
So much has happened since my last blog, both in and out of work. I am currently in my 29th week of pregnancy, busy growing another little boy! Rich and I are overjoyed to be welcoming another little bundle into our family, and Freddie (at the moment) is very much looking forward to becoming a big brother. We’ve read some books, he’s felt his baby brother kicking around – but we’re faltering a little with the concept of toy sharing…who knew that a singing caterpillar and a black and white board book could be just as fun at 3 and a half as it was at 6 months old? I’m sure there will be lots of ups and downs, but we are really looking forward to being a family of 4 – I can’t wait for those gorgeous newborn snuggles!
The Briars is busier than ever before, and we are just growing and growing as a practice – it’s incredible to see, and even better to be part of it. I’m so excited for patients new and existing to experience some of the work we’ve been doing behind the scenes – something my next blog will be dedicated to, so watch this space!
With all the changes we are implementing, and my relatively imminent departure (only for 9 months, panic not!) – we felt it was time to introduce a new Treatment Coordinator to the practice. The role has been really successful, and from my perspective, it has been an absolute pleasure to welcome so many new patients to The Briars, and set them on the pathways to receiving the very best dental care. At the beginning of January, we welcomed the lovely Chelsea to The Briars team, and the TCO role. Chelsea has been in the dental nursing game for a long time, and was really keen to expand her knowledge and skills, and challenge herself in a new role. I am slowly starting to let go of the reins (I didn’t realise how hard that would be!), and will soon be working alongside Chelsea, rather than mentoring her – she is doing a cracking job, and I know our patients will love her!
I have tried to be organised this year, and I have a list of blogs that I am desperate to get written – so I’m hoping this will get me back into the swing of behaving myself and posting regularly. I am particularly excited to show you the next one – it’s all about Digital Smile Design, and the new journey we are now able to offer our patients. I have recently been through it myself as part of our training, and I will talk you through the ins and outs, and all the fun things that come with it.
Until the next one, look after yourselves – we made it through the hardest month, lighter evenings and longer days are just around the corner!
Love, Amy x
