Hi Everyone!
I hope you’ve all had a brilliant week so far – I can’t believe we’ve landed in October already! I’m going to miss the summer sunshine, but I can already hear my winter jumpers calling down from the loft – I can quickly forget about lounging in the sun when I’m snuggled up on the sofa in a jumper 5 times too big, cuddling a big mug of mulled wine (the healthy kind, of course)!
It’s a funny time of year, where events seem to spring up all over the place. Halloween at the end of the month, swiftly followed by the bonfires and fireworks, leading us nicely into C****mas! (Is it too early to mention the ‘C’ word!?) I don’t know if it’s just me, but Richard and I seem to breeze through the summer, not really making any plans – just going with the flow, throwing an ad-hoc BBQ every now and then, strolling down to the pub when the sun’s out. Then when it gets to this time of year, we have at least one solid plan in the diary for every weekend – I’m not complaining, I love it – it just seems that life becomes a lot more structured once September is out the way!
One thing I will definitely be doing over the next couple of weeks, is whitening my teeth ready for December and all the celebrations it brings! It’s something I nearly always manage to forget about, until I get ready to go out, and wish I’d put my trays in for a couple of nights! I whiten my teeth at home, which is the system we use at The Briars. I have custom made trays (which I guard with my life for fear of losing them!), which I put whitening gel into, and put in my mouth before I go to sleep. I found initially, it took around 2 weeks for my teeth the get to the shade I wanted, but now my top ups only usually take 2-3 nights. Whitening is a nice, easy, and non-invasive way to brighten up your smile – and well worth talking to your dentist about. The whitening gels you find online generally aren’t regulated and are not safe to use – your dentist will provide you gel which is safe to use, and suitable for you. If you have any questions, or want to know more – have a look at the Briars website, we’ve recently set up an instant messaging system on our website, so you can fire away with any questions! I’ve put the link at the bottom of the blog, in case you’re interested. If you want a brighter smile for December, now is the time to book in! 😊
On a completely separate note from all the fun Autumn starts to bring, you’ll be pleased to hear that the weather finally behaved itself and we managed to play our first ‘Briars’ game on Sunday! Our Briars girls played amazingly well against a very well established team (who have just come back down to league two from league one!) but we eventually lost 50-36. It was an interesting match, because it seemed to lay the foundations for us being a really solid team. That was our first league match, the first time we have played together – the first of many strong performances. I’ll keep you posted as to how we get on – keep an eye on in the Newbury Weekly News too – they often report on the matches, look out for our Briars green!
Have a lovely weekend everyone! (not long to go now!)
Amy x
