Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy was developed in 1952 by a French physician, Dr Michel Pistor.

Like micro-needling, multiple tiny injections are made. However, a treatment solution is delivered to the middle layer of the skin. These solutions can replace hyaluronic acid, vitamins and even your own plasma growth factors. The products that we use for mesotherapy include PRGF-ENDORET, Redensity 1 and Filorga-135HA.

Mesotherapy can be used to rehydrate and rejuvenate the skin as well as stimulate the growth of fresh cells and hair. Progressively thinning hair is a concern for both men and women. Its incidence increases with age, and it is most often seen in postmenopausal women, but it can affect men from a much younger age, leading to self-esteem issues and loss of self-confidence. The aim of hair loss treatment is to decrease the progression of hair loss, stimulate hair regrowth and improve hair quality.

We use the U225 meso-injector, which is a high-quality automatic device specifically designed for this procedure. The U225 meso-injector quickly and comfortably injects product at a precise depth, distributing the treatment product evenly throughout the skin and the scalp.

FAQs

How does mesotherapy work?

As with micro-needling, multiple vertical tiny punctures are made into the skin, which promotes a wound healing response and new collagen and elastin fibres to form over a period of a few months, but without the formation of scars. With mesotherapy, there is additionally a droplet of treatment product is delivered just under the skin with each injection which boosts the effectiveness of the procedure.

As the epidermis remains intact, the procedure can be repeated, and it can also be used in areas where lasers and deep peels cannot be due to risks associated with those treatments.

The mesotherapy device that we use is the U225 injector.

Who is suitable for this treatment?

This treatment is most suitable for patients with ‘structural damage’ to their skin, such as scars, stretch marks, cellulite, fine lines and laxity due to ageing. However, results are not instantaneous, and a course of treatment is advised to obtain the most benefit.

As there is no risk of pigment changes, it can be used safely on all skin types, but it is not suitable for patients with active acne or skin cancer. It can’t be used for the treatment of keloid scars or for the treatment of raised moles. It is also not recommended for pregnant patients.

A consultation is required to assess suitability for this treatment as well as to go over the risks and benefits in detail.

Is mesotherapy safe?

Mesotherapy is a very safe procedure and will not cause pigment changes which can be a risk in darker skin types. Therefore it can be used on all skin types and any skin area. The PRGF-ENDORET system uses the patient’s own blood, meaning that there is no risk of allergic reactions.

There are no risks related to medicines or other substances that patients may be taking.

Some patients with a history of herpes infections (cold sores) can find that they are reactivated by this treatment, so it is advised to use anti-viral creams for a few days before any treatment.

Is there any downtime?

After treatment, the skin will be red and feel tight, and this normally resolves in a few days, after which makeup can be used again. During this initial phase, whilst the skin is calling down, you will also need to avoid heat and direct sunlight.

As with any cosmetic treatment, there may be some slight swelling, redness or bruising, which will usually disappear within a few days.

Full aftercare instructions will be given to you as part of the consultation.

What does it cost?

A mesotherapy treatment costs £250, and a course of 6 treatments is advised to obtain the best results.

Courses of treatment are discounted when paid in full.

After such a positive experience today with Richard I thought it only fair to delete my previous review. I am a very nervous patient and not ashamed to say I cried before my appointment. Richard and his lovely dental nurse were so understanding and treated me with kindness and empathy. Richard explained everything to me and allowed me to go at my pace. All options for my next appointment were explained to me and I now have trust in Richard that I feel I will not need full sedation. I was in alot of pain prior to my appointment today along with an enormous amount of anxiety. My visit to Richard last week went well. He identified that x rays hadn’t been taken for 3 years, and showed me the images, interpreting the results carefully and explaining the steps that may be required as treatment. I am disappointed that I will need to have another consultation to confirm if a root canal is needed. Warning: if you do need a consultation with the endodontist, you will need to pay in advance. I couldn’t do that on the day, but I will be booking in to have this followed up as soon as I can. I will need my own teeth for many more years!

I can 100% recommend this dental practice as I have been with Briars Dental Centre for a few years now. From the reception staff to the Hygenist and Dentist I have had my confidence boosted in the biggest way. The reception girls are always very professional, helpful, friendly and always make time for a little chat. I had a lot of discomfort from two adjacent back teeth, the slightest touch of cold drink and it got really painful. The Briars team quickly diagnosed the problem and explained the x-ray images that showed a previous different practice’s root canal had caused decay of the tooth and the adjacent one along with the surrounding bone. I was left with a few choices that were clearly explained to me, but removal of the two teeth was the option I took with an implant replacement for one of them. I was referred to Nick French, who is their implant specialist. I had a process that encouraged the bone to regrow and then the implant. Nick’s demeanour is so calming and his explanations very clear, I had no distress or discomfort at all. I recognised the techniques he uses from the manufacturing industry, they are so advanced that the replacement tooth feels exactly like the one it replaced and now my mouth feels calm for the first time in quite a while. I totally recommend The Briars Dental Centre and Nick French.

Great service for a root canal treatment. Dr Richard Condon was very professional, explained everything clearly before doing and after the procedure which lasted for 2 hours. Removed a crown, treated the root canals and replaced with temporary crown. No pain during the procedure at all, just a little that day when the numbness faded. Next day almost back to normal. I was recently booked in for an appointment with Amy to discuss Invisalign treatment. On arrival, reception staff were lovely and directed me to really nice and homely waiting room! Amy was so great, she made the appointment relaxed and friendly and took me through how Invisalign works and made sure I understood everything. At the end of the appointment she wasn’t pushy with me to get started and pay for treatment. She even emailed me a finance calculator so I could go away and think about what I wanted to do and how I would pay for it. Really lovely place and staff, highly recommend 😊
