Dental care is a crucial part of maintaining overall health, but we know many patients find themselves questioning why dental treatments can sometimes be expensive. At The Briars Dental Centre, we believe in transparency and want to help you understand the factors that contribute to the costs of dental care. Here’s a closer look at why high-quality dental treatment often comes with a higher cost.
Modern dentistry relies on advanced technology and state-of-the-art equipment to increase the long-term success rates of both functional and aesthetic treatment. From digital X-rays and CBCT scans, to laser treatments and CAD/CAM systems, these technologies enhance the precision, efficiency, and comfort of dental procedures. However, they come with significant costs for purchase, maintenance, and training, which can affect the overall price of treatments. At The Briars, we invest heavily in the best technology available, enhancing the care we provide our patients, reducing the limits on treatment options available. We keep everything accessible, under one roof.
Dentists, hygienists, and dental specialists undergo extensive education and training to provide expert care. This includes years of undergraduate and dental school education, continuing education, and specialised training for certain procedures. The expertise and skill required for complex treatments contribute to the cost, ensuring that you receive the highest standard of care. We hold peer review meetings once a week to discuss complex cases and ensure our patients benefit from the ever-growing vat of dental knowledge we hold within our walls!
The materials used in dental treatments – such as crowns, fillings, veneers, and braces – must meet high standards of durability, safety, and aesthetics. High-quality materials that ensure longevity and effective results can be costly, reflecting their superiority and reliability. While cheaper materials are available, and cheaper laboratories could be sought, as with many things in life, you get what you pay for.
Every patient is unique, and dental care is very much tailored to individual needs. Personalised treatment plans involve thorough diagnostics, well thought out solutions, and detailed planning, all of which require additional time and resources. This bespoke approach ensures that you receive treatment that is specifically designed to address your unique dental needs. Access to treatment coordinators to provide additional support is included as part of any treatment plan, so you are always able to discuss your treatment.
Dental procedures, especially complex ones, require a significant amount of time and meticulous attention to detail. The labour involved in preparing, performing, and following up on treatments is reflected in the cost. This includes the time spent on consultations, diagnostics, and post-treatment care to ensure the best outcomes. Much of our treatment planning happens beyond us closing the doors at 5:15pm.
Operating a dental practice involves various overhead costs, including utilities, insurance, staff salaries, and administrative expenses. These costs are necessary to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients. They contribute to the overall pricing of dental services, and ensure that the practice can continue to provide high-quality care.
Dental practices must adhere to strict regulations and standards set by health authorities and governing bodies. Compliance within these regulations involves additional costs for training, certification, and equipment to meet safety and hygiene standards. These measures are crucial for providing safe and effective care, and impact the cost of treatment.
Investing in preventive and comprehensive care is essential for long-term dental health. While preventive treatments may have upfront costs, they help avoid more serious and costly issues in the future. Comprehensive care addresses a wide range of dental needs, from routine check-ups to complex restorative procedures. This comprehensive care ensures your oral health is managed effectively.
We offer an in-house maintenance plan to help our patients spread the cost of routine dental appointments over the year. The plan is created for each patient individually and doesn’t require dental fitness prior to starting. The cost of routine care is discounted as part of the plan, and routine dental treatment also comes with a discount when joining – every little helps! We also offer finance for any treatment over £1000, with terms that range from 6 months up to 60 months.
At The Briars, we understand that dental care can be a significant investment. We strive to provide transparent pricing and offer flexible payment options. We work with you to make your care as accessible as possible. Our goal is to ensure that you receive the best dental care and treatment.
The cost of dental treatment reflects the quality, expertise, and advanced technology required to deliver exceptional care. By understanding the factors that contribute to the costs of dental care, we hope that you can appreciate the value of investing in your oral health.
